7 12/10/12   1:16pm Gary Bailey I have worked in the communications industry almost all of my life, military and civilian, inside and outide. I am still working for a large corp. maintaining microwave radio sites in Colorado. I had no idea that a museum like this existed and I am in awe of what has been saved and collected. Really nice and I hope to visit in person someday soon.
8 11/24/12   1:28pm Lee Bourdeau I tried to send you a thankyou card after my visit to your wonderful museum. Unfortunately, it came back to me. I was just blown away by your displays and the wonderful switchroom. Being a 4w tollee, didn’t prevent me from taking a step back to when I worked for PacBell for 29 years in Eureka, CA., right nest to all the step and XBar switches. I only wish I could have spent more time with the collection, but the Model A Fords were ready to go. Maybe next time. Thanks loads. Lee Bourdeau

15 6/01/12   3:08pm Michael Johnson-Mullen Wow! I am surprised it took me so long to find your amazing site.
16 5/16/12   8:07am William Wakeman I recently been in contact with the man that sold you the 1957 Ford Bell telephone truck, congratulations you got it at a unbelievable low-price in my opinion for such a rare and rarely seen truck. I own a 1956 Chevrolet IU 76 installation and repair truck similar to the one that you just purchased. Bob Clark as stated has several of Bell telephone trucks and is an ex-Bell telephone employee and has helped me with his knowledge of what needs to be in my truck and anything else related to how it was supposed to look like when it was used with the telephone company. I hope you will take lots of pictures and document your progress and restoration of your truck so we can see it as it is being restored.
17 3/24/12   5:13pm Bob Clark Congradulations on the purchase of the 1957 ford I.U.76 Installation and Repair Truck! Have Five Bell Telephone I&R vehicles myself and if I can be of any help on whats missing etc let me know. Bob

Much success to you, John!
45 5/03/10   1:05pm Neil Gallensky Thanks for hosting the 2010 telephone show at the former AT&T facility near Lyons, Nebraska. It was awesome to tour this amazing facility with John as our expert tour guide, and great to meet-up with the telephone collecting community at a show only one day’s drive from our home in Denver Colorado. My wife and brother-in-law also very much enjoyed the experience at Lyons. Hosting a show is never easy, and please know that your efforts are appreciated. Thank you!

47 4/05/10   8:09pm Jon Archer John, thank you so very much for sending me the link to your treasure trove! I am in awe. I love old phones! There is nothing quite like rewiring an old candlestick phone that has been silent for many decades, and hearing a dial tone. It really isn’t about being clever enough to figure out how to make it work again. It’s about the people long passed, who designed, and built something that would still work for several generations to come. Thank you for what you are doing John.
48 3/15/10   8:26pm Al & JoAnne Jessen Looking forward to the show on May 1, 2010. We’re still in awe when we came to see the museum in Oct. 2008 with friends. Whenever we get to Sacramento, we’ll be back down. See you soon.

63 9/20/09 10:56am Al & JoAnne Jessen So glad we got the message you’re having another show in Lyons, Nebraska, May,2010. We’ll be there and had so much fun in 2008. In Oct. 2008 we were able to visit your JKL Museum and what a wander. Our mouth drops in awe just when we tell someone about it. If anyone gets a chance to see this they can’t miss it and the fu is finding it, and going through all the little gold mining towns of Calif. See you all in May, 2010.

75 4/10/09   6:01pm Charles Gaylord An astounding collection! As a Long Lines retiree I do not know as much as would like about local equipment. I have seen panel and SxS equipment in operation but I never had the opportunity to work with it. I have worked with 2-wire and 4-wire repeaters, K1, K2, L1, and L3 carrier equipment, TE, TD-2, and TH radio. I have also run miles and miles of jumpers. I think that I belong in a museum.
76 4/10/09   9:30am Frank Harrison You had me the instant I saw the Autovan phone! As a teenager I knew how to hack into the system to make long-distance calls for free. Lived near the underground “Notch” in Amherst, Mass (can’t remember its AV#). I have a small collection and am looking for what is sometimes called Series 400, a multi-line 300. Have you ever seen the decorated type like used by Margo Channing character in “All About Eve?” Thanks for letting us browse through your collection.
77 2/07/09   7:13pm Dennis Dorr What a marvelous site. I particularly love the WE “card dialer”,(it is the first pink one I have seen, although I knew they existed) and the “Shmoo” which was later to become the “Trimline” for WE.
78 1/01/09   8:47am Bob Denhardt Great pictures of telephone history. I am looking for WECO 3504 face plates,3504 telephones and an AECO 880 AUTOVON telephone. Anyone have this stuff or know where to get it? Thanks,Bob
79 12/30/08 12:14pm Steve Roberts What in God’s name have you done!?!? I sent you a quick email blip to an Adak site. Adak@something or other… Even found a pic of Calfee… did you post that? What have you been doing since Adak? I’m startin’ to think I’ve been tryin’ to contact Bill Gates or George Bush. Originally I thought I was just contactin’ an old Navy buddy. What’s this Pac-West Telecom all about… WHAT in God’s name have you gone and done now? I was a founding member of Infinitec… but we didn’t make it passed the Tech Bubble Bust. If we’d started a year earlier, we may have made it. Hey… if this ever gets to ya… holler at me. 918-645-7889 or email at deforrest@att.net Strangest thing… I was eatin’ in a Panera shop in Tulsa when a Kent Smart came in and recognized me. 40 years later, 40# heavier, grey hair, beard and glasses. Very strange in itself! Anyway, your name came up and I figgered I’d find ya thru the Net one way or another… what a frickin’ surprise you have been!! “Old Man” Calfee would be proud of ya!!

I was with JoAnne Jessen from Fremont, NE this past Saturday and truely enjoyed your tour. The museum is awesome and the care and workmanship of the contents and building is something to be admired. It was such a pleasure to visit. Carol James, Folsom, CA
84 8/23/08   7:15am David Johnson I just viewed the photo of the early TT touchpad. The telephone number, CHestnut 8-0602, suggests that this telephone was from the 1959 Hamden, Connecticut field test, where touchtone phones were tried on the CHestnut 8 exchange. At the age of 12, I had the opportunity to use one of these phones at the invitation of a local shoe store owner (CHestnut 8-2521). He told me that I’d probably get a wrong n umber when I called my Dad at home (CHestnut 8-6906), but I did not. I believe this particular TT system was not the one that was eventually adopted. Also, ironically, the 248 exchange was among the last Hamden-New Haven area exchanges to go ESS (c. 1979).

I have my parent’s Stormberg and Carlson desk teslephones, Swedish Erico Tele, North Electric pulse, North Electric tone, and new look North Electric rotary in various colors, mists blue, mint green, and white. I have Sony telehones, (Sony pulled out of the house telephone market.), I connected them all to the telephone line, so it is a working museum as well. My collection is not as grand as yours.
